“Tales of your incompetence do not interest me”.

By Annette Stevens.

*Please note that this Editor is Fictional, and is from the film “The Devil Wears Prada”

With this segment of the blog, I wanted to keep it varied and interesting. With this post, I will be looking at the life and times of Miranda Priestly. Yes, I know she’s fictional, however I wanted to teach a little bit about her leadership:

Throughout the film of The Devil Wears Prada, Miranda is seen as the ultimate fashion Editor, who is ruthless, and mostly abusive. Editors shouldn’t have to be like that, now should they? So I thought that I would give some advice, if you ever were an editor:

+Interns are slaves right? Er…..NO! Always treat your Interns with respect, as that’s what makes the world go round.

+Make clear cut choices, but not ruthlessly.

+Take feedback from your readers-after all, your producing a Magazine for them, aren’t you?

+Be a mentor to new recruits- how will you produce a magazine, without a team?

+Promote the publication always. Don’t stop.
